Purple Martini Social!

The Grand Prairie Bird Alliance invites you to join our first “Purple Martini” social. Light snacks and sweets will be provided, and drinks will be available for purchase. We are hosting this event to raise awareness and involvement in our Bloomington-Normal Purple Martin Initiative. Purple Martins in the eastern United States depend on human-built structures for nesting locations.

At 1:30 p.m., Given Harper will provide a short presentation about the nest boxes we purchase from the Purple Martin Conservation Association. We work with a variety of public and private landowners to install the boxes and help increase Purple Martin breeding populations. Once the houses are set up, we rely on volunteers to serve as Purple Martin Stewards and ensure martins nest successfully.

Join us to learn how you can get involved! We will have a map with our current and proposed locations of Purple Martin nest boxes. We will have a selection of merchandise with our new chapter logo available for purchase, too.
